Lemon Berry Frozen Yogurt

Warm summer days call for sweet cold treats, especially if you can find a healthy one that everyone will enjoy. This Lemon Berry Frozen Yogurt is absolutely delicious and super simple! Whether you serve the dessert at your next meal or party, or save the whole batch for yourself, it certainly won’t disappoint.

Lemon Berry Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (300 g) frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup (140 g) plain greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) honey
  • 1 tsp. (5 ml) vanilla
  • 2–4 drops lemon essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Add the frozen berries, greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla to a blender or food processor. Blend for 2–3 minutes, or until creamy.
  2. Add lemon essential oil, and pulse the blender briefly to combine.
  3. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours.
  4. Remove from the freezer, and allow the frozen yogurt to soften for a few minutes before serving.

You can also stir in some crushed berries after blending for an extra fruity flavor and texture.

This frozen yogurt can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

This recipe is a little tart, but you can always add a little more honey until it tastes good to you.

Coconut Oil Face Masks

Sometimes all we need is a relaxing face mask to clear our pores, hydrate our skin, and clear up any acne we have. Coconut oil is a natural antibacterial and antifungal agent, as well as an excellent moisturizer. We’ve created these 3 different masks for you to try out depending on your specific needs. Be careful to keep them out of your eyes, as the essential oils may cause some irritation. Try them all out and pick a favorite!

Acne Mask

  • Servings: 1 mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. (12 g) Coconut Oil
  • 2 tsp. (10 ml) raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp. (3 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 drop melaleuca essential oil
  • 1 drop juniper berry essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine coconut oil, honey, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Stir until smooth.
  2. Add the essential oils, and stir to combine.
  3. Clean the makeup off your face, and drape a towel around your shoulders to prevent getting the mask on your clothes.
  4. Apply the mask to your face and neck, and allow it to sit for 15–20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Cleansing & Brightening Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. (12 g) Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp. (4 g) baking soda
  • 1 drop lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop melaleuca essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine coconut oil and baking soda in a small bowl, forming a thick paste.
  2. Add the essential oils, and stir to combine.
  3. Drape a towel around your shoulders to prevent the mask from getting on your clothes.
  4. Gently apply the mask to your face and neck.
  5. Leave the mask on for 15–20 minutes for the best results, and rinse with warm water.

Hydrating Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1 Tbsp. (12 g) Coconut Oil
  • 1 drop geranium essential oil
  • 1 drop lavender essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Using a food processor or a fork, mash the banana until smooth.
  2. Add the coconut oil and essential oils, and stir to combine.
  3. Wash any makeup off your face, and pat dry with a towel.
  4. Drape a towel over your shoulders to prevent the mask from getting on your clothes.
  5. Apply the mask to your face and neck, and allow the mask to sit for 10–15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Honey Suckers for Soothing Little Throats

One of the most helpful things for a sore throat is a spoonful of honey! A couple years ago we posted a recipe for Soothing Throat Lozenges, and we thought we could adapt the recipe a little to make it suitable for children. The result? Honey Suckers.

Honey Suckers

  • Servings: 30–40

Ingredients & Supplies:

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) honey
  • 1 Tbsp. (12 g) coconut oil
  • 2–3 drops essential oil (good oils to use include lemon, lime, or orange)
  • Candy thermometer
  • Silicone sucker mold with sticks or parchment paper and popsicle sticks

Instructions:

  1. If you don’t have a silicone sucker mold, place a sheet of parchment paper on the counter, then place popsicle sticks a couple inches apart on the sheet. You’ll need about 30–40 popsicle sticks.
  2. Place honey and coconut oil in a pot. Bring to a boil.
  3. Once the mixture is boiling, reduce heat and simmer.
  4. Using a candy thermometer, allow the mixture to reach a temperature of 300°F (150°C), and then remove the mixture from the stove.
  5. Stir in essential oils.
  6. Pour the mixture into sucker molds, or drop spoonfuls on parchment paper over the popsicle sticks. You will need to work fast, since the mixture hardens quickly and will become hard to pour.
  7. Allow the suckers to harden (you can stick the sucker mold in the refrigerator for an hour). Cut strips of parchment paper, and fold them over the suckers to keep them from sticking together. Store in the refrigerator.
