Where to Apply Essential Oils

With so many ways to apply essential oils, it can be difficult to know what methods to use! We want to share a few tips for applying essential oils topically so that you can reap the greatest benefits from your oils.

More often than not, we just opt for applying the oils directly to the location of pain. Yes, this can be effective, but there are other methods that can potentially be more effective.

Applying essential oils to the body’s reflex points is one of these methods. Modern Essentials tells us, “Reflex therapy is a simple method of applying oils to contact points (or nerve endings) in the feet or hands. A series of hand rotation movements at those control points create a vibrational healing energy that carries the oils along the neuroelectrical pathways. The oils either help remove any blockage along the pathways or travel the length of the pathway to benefit the particular organ.”

We sell the following charts so that you can reference the different reflex points at any time. The charts also include recommended oils for each organ.

There are several essential locations on the head for different types of headaches and helping with sleep. By applying the oils to specific locations around the head and face, you can experience faster relief and better absorption, maximizing the health benefits of your essential oils.

Here are a few specific locations to help with headaches, stress, and sleep problems:

Tension headache: Behind the earlobes, base of the skull at the neck, top of the shoulders where the neck meets.
Sinus headache: Bridge of the nose, inside edge of the eyebrows, outer edge of the nostrils.
Stress: Across the forehead, on temples, inside edge of the eyebrows, between the eyebrows.
Sleep: Crown of the head, on temples, between the eyebrows, behind the earlobes.
